London Family Lawyers: Surrogacy and International Adoption Solicitors
Rollingsons Solicitors helps build happy families through international adoption and surrogacy.
Both adoption and surrogacy can be complicated processes that may involve international law. The failure to obtain proper legal advice can result in complications that can be financially and emotionally costly for the adoptive or intended parents. We are experienced in anticipating and responding to potential problems so that the process moves forward as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.
International Adoption
We help prospective parents adopt children from other countries. The 1993 Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in respect of Intercountry Adoption has established a process for international adoptions that is intended to protect the best interests of the child. When children are adopted from one of the Hague Convention countries, the adoption order needs to be registered by the High Court in this country. If a child is adopted from a country that is not a party to the Hague Convention, the child will have to be re-adopted under British law. Our lawyers can assist you in either circumstance. Read more
Surrogacy
Surrogacy is legal in the UK for both surrogates and intended parents, but there are numerous restrictions in place to protect the best interests of the child. While surrogacy is legal, English law does not recognise or enforce surrogacy agreements. There are no international conventions that deal with surrogacy as there are for adoption.
Our family law solicitors are experienced in advising intended parents on surrogacy issues and helping them obtain parental orders. We represent same-sex and opposite-sex couples on domestic and international surrogacy.
